Targeted Training & Apprenticeship Fund
Take advantage of the Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund (TTAF) which offers fully funded programmes for high-demand industries in New Zealand. This fund is part of the Government's Covid-19 recovery strategy.

To support Aotearoa, New Zealand’s recovery from Covid-19, the Government introduced a Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund (often called TTAF). This supports domestic students to study and train for high-demand industries for free.
The Government is fully covering tuition fees for TTAF and you just have to pay for any additional costs (like textbooks) or living costs. Full-time students can pay for this themselves or apply for support via Studylink. Part-time students are not generally eligible for support from Studylink but some help might be possible depending on your circumstances.
Plus, if you complete a TTAF programme, this doesn’t impact your ability to then also use the Fees Free scheme for further study (as long as you’re eligible).
The remaining programmes below sit within Automotive Engineering apprenticeships, Carpentry apprenticeships and work-based horticulture. They are fully-funded until 31 December 2022 and then you may be able to access the Fees Free funding for additional support from 2023 onwards.
Specific TTAF and Fees Free details are summarised on each individual programme page.
