With a transport qualification from Otago Polytechnic, you will graduate with the ability to join the road transport industry as a heavy rigid vehicle or heavy combination vehicle operator. Learn everything you need to know about operating heavy vehicles from commercial road transport rules and regulations to health and safety, technical fuel-efficient driving, route planning and communication, and loading and unloading procedures.

Gain your heavy vehicle license and develop skills beyond the required standard for a heavy vehicle license holder. Study either full-time on campus over a period of 28 weeks or part-time alongside employment over a period of 48 weeks.

Continue developing your career in the automotive industry by learning how to safely and effectively diagnose and repair faults that are commonly encountered on heavy vehicles. This programme is ideal for learners who are starting, or already doing, an apprenticeship in the workplace.
If you start this programme in 2022, your tuition fees will be funded until 31 December 2022 due to the Government's Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund (TTAF).
